This Rasam is my quick fix for days when am busy with some other works or when i need to empty the left over dal kept for lil one.The below mentioned quantity serves two people.
Ingredients:
Country Tomato or Naatu thakali - 2
Dhal - 1/3rd cup (taken a mix of Toor + Moong dal)
Ghee - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves - few
Curry leaves - few
Jeera - 1/2 tsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Hing - Pinch
Rasam Powder - 1 and half tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - as per taste
Water - Close to 1 cup
Steps:
1. In a pan add Ghee,Oil and allow it to heat up.
2. Add Jeera and mustard then allow mustard to splutter followed by adding pinch of hing and curry leaves to it.
3. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute it well till it turns mushy.
4. To this add dry powders like turmeric,chilli,Rasam Powder followed by the required salt.
5. Once the tomatoes becomes mushy add the cooked dal and one cup of water and boil for two to three minutes.
6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it hot.
